Due 3/8: The Stranger

1. The Stranger–read and annotate chapters 1-3!  Keep in mind, this novel is a philosophical vehicle for Camus’ philosophy of the absurd. And don’t forget about Sisyphus.

Reminder, the class readings are meant to (among other things) help inform our interpretation/understanding of all subsequent readings.

Due 3/8: Class Forum

1. Institutional Racism–Class Forum. You all acknowledged that there is institutional racism in America. Now illustrate and substantiate this claim. Everyone should be prepared to engage this point of discussion tomorrow.

Due 3/7: Between the World and Me

2. Discussion Question–Each pair should finalized their discussion question and be prepared to lead tomorrow’s discussion. I will choose the pair(s) who will lead the discussion. Let’s not discuss that which we have discussed. Aim for a substantive question/discussion.

1. Precis on The Meaning of Suffering–This will be your first précis and first project/essay grade. This requires that you have at least Control of the source article. Print out and read the précis detail sheet TONIGHT. The precis should be typed and single-spaced. Use proper heading for the class:
