HW10 due 1/14: Slaughterhouse Five

1. Slaughterhouse Five–Read and annotate Chapter 6. Keep in mind:

V’s use of irony
V’s atheism/humanism
Fatalism/Determinism/Free Will

2. Slaughterhouse Five–Be prepared to discuss Chapter 5 of the novel tomorrow!
3. 1984 Skeleton Essay (DUE THURSDAY)–Remember, this entails an introduction, thesis, and topic sentences. Also, remember that hypothetically, this is a 3-4 pages essay (HYPOTHETICALLY).
4. Between now and 2/5/15, you should always keep group deadlines in mind.

3. (ALSO DUE MONDAY, JAN. 12) Class Forum–Slaughterhouse Five #1 (A Few of you have already posted and that is fine. I would like the rest of you to wait until AFTER you read through p. 116 before you post. Thank you.)

1. Slaughterhouse Five–Read and annotate Chapter 3. Focus your annotations on Billy’s characterization.
2. 1984 Introduction Prep–Based upon your thesis, what must be established before you begin to develop your argument over the body of your essay? This is what you will write about in your introduction. Keep in mind the example from class (i.e. Using the introduction to articulate the relationship between dreams and personal values). You may want to establish a contextual framework in your introduction. You may want to establish how your points of analysis work together. Etc…
