HW10 due 10/20: The Bell Jar

1. The Bell Jar–Read and annotate Chapters 15-17.  Be sure your annotations focus on sections of the novel that you would like to share with the class during class discussion. As always, I am most interested in why you think your chosen sections are critical. Monday, we will continue with the second question/group. Those groups presenting should consider how the reading over the weekend is relevant to their discussion question.

2. You should have 25 Vocab Words in your personal vocab section by Monday.

HW12 due 10/17: Nausea (and so it begins…)

1. Nausea–Read and annotate through p. 18. Keep the following in mind while annotating:

“The strangest thing is that I am not at all inclined to call myself insane, I clearly see that I am not: all these changes concern objects. At least, that is what I’d like to be sure of.” (2)

“Something has happened to me, I can’t doubt it any more.” (4)

Also keep in mind that this novel chronicles Roquentin’s existential illness and his road to understanding and “recovery.”
