HW10 due 3/12: Siddhartha Intro

1. Siddhartha–By Thursday’s class you must print out and read the following links:
Introduction to Buddhism
Buddhism 5 Minute Introduction
The Four Noble Truths/The Eightfold Path
2. Siddhartha Glossary–Print out and familiarize yourself with this list by Monday, 3/16.

IMPORTANT: I have fewer copies of Siddhartha than I thought! To be exact, I have 28 worn copies. I have 67 sophomores! So, I need as many of you as possible to buy this version. We will begin reading this weekend so you have a few days to purchase a copy. Thank you!

HW10 due 3/18 (3/19 for 10G): Siddhartha

1. Siddhartha–Finish the novel. Annotate through the end.
2. Goodreads (10H due for Wednesday’s class/10G due for Thursday’s class)

3. Allegory–first drafts are due Thursday (Friday for 10G)
4. Mandalas are due next Monday!

HW10 due 3/17 (3/18 for 10G): Siddhartha and Mandala Project

1. Siddhartha–Read and annotate “The Ferryman” and “The Son”
2. You have a setting for your allegory! Who are the characters? From what point of view will the story be told? What is the plot line? What is the primary conflict? In as much detail as possible, the questions should be answered by MONDAY. (TUESDAY for 10G)
3. Final Mandala due Monday, March 24th!
4. Allegory 1st draft due Thursday, March 20th. Final draft of the Allegory now due Wednesday, March 26th. More details to come tomorrow.

HW10 due 3/13 (3/14 for 10G): Siddhartha, Six Word Memoir, and Blueprint

1. Siddhartha–Read and annotate “By the River”
2. Six Word Memoir–YOUR LIFE IN SIX WORDS. Complete these on the sentence strips passed out today in class. Write the Six Word Memoir on the single-lined side of the sentence strip.  Please be thoughtful, authentic, and pithy! I am looking forward to these. Also, be NEAT! And personalize/decorate the strip to your heart’s content (and for extra credit).
3. Mandala blueprint due Tomorrow. (Friday for 10G)

1. Siddhartha–Read and annotate Samsara.
2. Be sure you are familiar with the Siddhartha glossary.
3. Stay on top of your personal vocab–25 words.
4. You should write out ideas for your the setting of your Allegory. We will spend some time with that tomorrow!
