HW due 10/29: Confessional Poems and The Bell Jar

1. The Bell Jar–Read and annotate Chapter 17! Remember, the essay is looming so you should annotate with the essay in mind.  Perhaps the feminist lens will help to guide/shape your argument. Perhaps double consciousness will. Perhaps a combination of the two. Perhaps something unrelated to the above.
2. Confessional Poems…  Requirements:

  • Honest and Authentic
  • Free verse if fine
  • You must use stanzaic form
  • You must employ “painterly language” and literary devices throughout (i.e. vivid imagery, metaphor, symbolism, motifs, etc)

So, tomorrow is our first squircle! Sharing is optional! So stoked!

HW due 10/27: The Bell Jar and more

1. The Bell Jar–Read and annotate Chapters 15 and 16.
2. Confessional Poems…  Requirements:

1. The Bell Jar–Read and annotate Chapters 7-9 (That means also read Chapter 9). Clink the link and print out (and read) the annotating tips handout.

2. Thesis Statement–Based upon your three MBV topic sentences, write a thesis statement and post it to the class forum. We will use these to learn about thesis statements for this class.
