HW due 11/10: Detailed Outline

1. You should have your DETAILED outlines ready for peer review.  I am expecting a detailed breakdown of each body paragraph including (remember, this will be a 2-3 page essay):

  • topic sentence
  • evidence
  • ANALYSIS OF EVIDENCE (very important)

Format your detailed outline in this way (Note: Where it says “topic sentence #1” actually write out the topic sentence and where it says “evidence #1” actually write out your evidence, etc etc etc.):

I. Thesis
II. Topic Sentence #1
A. Evidence #1
1. Analysis (Discuss the evidence in 2-4 sentences)
III. Topic Sentence #2
A. Evidence #1
1. Analysis (Discuss the evidence in 2-4 sentences)
B. Evidence #2 (If you have more than one piece of evidence)
1. Analysis (Discuss the evidence in 2-4 sentences)
IV. And so on…
Each layer of the outline should be indented like this example

It should be typed!

HW12C due 5/26: Detailed Outline

A. Evidence
1. Analysis
2. Analysis

III. Topic Sentence
A. Evidence
1. Analysis
B. Evidence

2. Analysis

IV. And so on…

The number of body paragraphs is up to you. The number of quotations per body paragraph is up to you. You are not expected to quote your outside source in the detailed outline. You are not expected to outline your conclusion. The more detail here, the less work on the back end as you work on your final draft over the weekend.
